* In the Senate, 100 members are elected by plurality vote in single-member constituencies to serve 6-year terms; one-third of Senate seats are up for elections every two years. In this elections 33 Senate seats were at stake in the Senate. Of the Senators elected in 2006, 23 ( 70%) were incumbent Senators reelected and 10 (30%) were new elected members.
